Not my fault.

It's simple. You give up the items to get the thing. So to get Ultima, you need to give up 3000 Gil, a Flare, & a Holy.

I also just added Al Bhed Potions AFTER the fight with Evrae.

Fortunately, I had the sense to add protection against death before a possible bout with Yunalesca.

So I would have to buy two Firagas, two Flares, and two Holys so that I would be able to use Firaga, Flare, Holy, and Ultima?

I noticed that actually, I giggled a bit inside.

I noticed that too, which is why I was going to hoard my shit until I could afford it, a leather breastplate, and a slot. Which sucks because I'll bet we get to her before I get enough money, or I'll get enough money in time but have no shop to visit, since I'm pretty sure that the Calm Lands shop is the last shop before Zanarkand.

Yes. The point is that the higher-level shit should be harder to get. And since Al Bhed Potions in this are essentially Megalixirs without the MP part, they require trade too.

You people continue to not realize that I am not doing this by the book.

I'm not sure how I'm catching you up in Gil. My boss ideas are pretty low at the moment. I smell Chocobo Eater ripoffs.

Edit: Then I guess no one gets Ultima.

Neither are actually important at this stage. I'd say Cavern of the Stolen Fayth was more important. Guadosalam MAY have more importance later on, or it may not.

Depending on the percentage and situation, yes. If I'm fighting a boss and a gravity spell works I'll use it twice right off the bat then mop up the last of his health.

You could, or you could just give it to Ingrid the same way you gave her scan. If you are going to do that tell me, that way I can change the Overdrive.
