Megaman: Mind Games

Post by Taegan on Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:31 am

In 200X the rapid advance of Internet technology has created the "network age." The planet has otherwise remained pretty much the same, though. Almost everyone now carries a portable exploration device called "PET" that, as explained in the Info section, is extremely helpful and essential for everyday life. Each PET is managed by a NetNavigator, a program with an exclusive built-in personality. The Navi have become great friends of their operators, and a little game became popular among children: Using Battle Chips - special chips encoded with battle programs - to have their Navi battle each other.
But as the network world expands, network crime is raging. Hacking and computer virus epidemics have become major issues. People have begun battling not for fun, but for their safety, often fighting off viruses and hackers.
A great threat approaches... is the Internet--No, the world--in danger? Time to jack in!

Derived from the term "Network Navigator," a NetNavi, or Navi for short is a sentient, or semi-sentient, computer program with artificial intelligence designed to be an assistant for the operator and resides in his or her Personal Terminal, abbreviated as "PET".
The Personal Terminal or PET, (pronounced "P-E-T") is an electronic handheld device. A PET is essentially a fictional version of a PDA device (although more advanced). It enables a user to make phone calls, send E-mail, store and use electronic money (known as "zenny") and access the Internet wirelessly. It houses the Navi.

PETs are used for personal convenience as well as machinery maintenance. Other than operating the PET's main functions, the NetNavi is capable to exit the PET by "jacking in" to electronic devices to investigate or explore the cyber network within it. Almost every mordern electronic device has a jack-in port. When jacked in, the NetNavi is transferred to that device and may roam around it, affecting programs contained in that device as required, and moving through that device to any other devices connected to it, such as moving from a specific computer to the larger Internet. In addition, NetNavis may function as anti-virus software, directly combating the offending programs in an activity called "virus busting". Two Navis can also battle one another in "NetBattles". When a NetNavi is severely injured, they are usually logged out to avoid permanent damage or deletion.
NetNavis have a unique personality that often reflects upon their operator's personality, and usually develop a strong friendship with their operators. NetNavis can also be used as assistants in their operator's occupation. Malicious users may use their Navi to hack into secure computer networks and commit crimes. Being programs, Navis are formally designated by the extension ".EXE" (Ex.: Megaman.EXE).
The operators can also upload Battle Chips through a chip slot on the PET to aid their Navi in battle against viruses or each other.
Source:http://megaman.wikia.com

Name: Operator's first and last names.
Age: Operator's age. Be reasonable.
Appearance: Operator description or picture and PET colors (If that matters to you).
NetNavi: Huge List of NetNavis. Choosing one from the list is highly advisable. Do post the picture as well, or simply hotlink the name to it. ----.EXE
Fighting Style: Navi's basic fighting skills. Most Navi have basic skills they can fight with without using Chips. Ex.: GutsMan has super strenght and FireMan can attack with flames. By clicking a Navi in the list above, you will most likely find a list of specifically dubbed skills at their page. Those should give you a general idea of what the Navi can do, since we won't be naming skills for simplicity purposes. (Ex.: FireMan's page describes many different skills he uses to fight, but it is overall obvious what he always does is manipulate flames to attack/defend). You can also customize these, especially if the page doesn't show any skills, but keep it simple.
Bio: Operator's bio. Relationship with NetNavi are particularly important, as well as both the operator and the Navi's personality traits. It should be noted characters will live in a fictional seaside industrial town called Seabreeze for conveniency purposes. The RP is still set on Earth, though.
Other: For anything I might have forgotten. Note I'll be creating a Battle Chip inventory topic later that I will be managing myself so as to make things easier for players.

Name: Tenrousei, Minato
Age: 15
Appearance:
Minato:
His PET is cobalt blue.
NetNavi:
Starman.EXE:
Fighting Style: Most of Starman's default abilities revolve around heavenly bodies and stars. He's able to use star shaped energy projectiles in various forms from star shuriken to star arrows. He can call down meteor strikes and summon a miniature black hole of sorts to absorb certain attacks (Breaking type chips can still pierce them). He's also light on his feet and nimble.
Bio: Born Minato Knighton but had his surname changed when his mother and father divorced, Minato is a half English/half Japanese boy who had moved to Seabreeze with his mother a few months ago. He's a talkative, upbeat, and generally happy-go-lucky boy who's hard to drag down. His NetNavi is Starman.EXE who is his foil in terms of personality. Starman is equally happy and upbeat but he's also calm and coolheaded allowing him to often point out things that Minato might miss.
Other: You've activated my trap card!

Name: Zeno Kiphastis.
Age: 15.
Appearance:
Spoiler:
NetNavi: Protoman.EXE
Spoiler:
Fighting Style: Protoman has an emphasis on up close and personal sword attacks, and will specialize in using sword type Battle Chips. He is very agile, and can dodge attacks with ease, though he can't attack from a distance.
Bio: Zeno was always picked on as a child for being gentle and softspoken, not making many friends throughout his early school years. He was also bullied frequently because of his frail appearance and the lack of friends he had to back him up when he got jumped. His parents talked to numerous therapists about a confidence booster, and they decided that a strong, independent NetNavi would provide as a good role model for him. They had a customized Protoman NetNavi created implanted with some early childhood memories that Zeno had and was still struggling with, like the disappearance of his best friend in pre-school. Eventually Zeno and Protoman bonded enough to the point where Zeno was confident in himself enough to try battling with Protoman, and they were a powerful enough team that they won a tournament at his school.
Other: Nothing I can think of here.

You're not active enough to count towards the total. And I'm not just saying that to piss Taegan off. That's a fringe benefit.

Name: N/A, "Ronin"
Age: 12
Appearance: A small caucasian boy with black hair & blue eyes. Wears jeans & a loose Samurai Jack t-shirt.
NetNavi: Kendoman
Fighting Style: Umm...kendo? Also can use any single or dual sword form. The sword has the ability to split into dual katanas.
Bio: Kendoman is the archetype of the wise old samurai. A NetFaggie of few words, he emphasizes tactics & philosophy. In battle he is patient, but he can also be brutal & overpowering. Ronin is more energetic. He tries to make friends quickly, but doesn't get along to most people, due to his obsession with anything sword-related, particularly TV shows & anime. "Ronin" is a net handle that he uses in lieu of his real name, so people can't cause him problems in real life out of spite. He has a hint of depression that he hides.
Other: Fuck you, look it up.

Name: Professor Aamon Avici.
Age: 37.
Appearance: A pale man with straggly white hair & vivid green eyes. Wears a lab coat over casual clothing & has square-rimmed glasses. He has a somewhat emaciated appearence with thin, long appendages.
NetNavi: Copyman.
Bio: Copyman's only hint of a personality is a pseudoaamon AI programmed into it, so that it knows what Aamon would do in a given situation. Other than that, it is an essentially mindless program that Aamon designed to be the perfect, manipulatable servant. Aamon himself was involved in the creation of the NetNavis, but he advocated putting severe limits on their AIs, afraid they would cause all kinds of problems, should they be any more than basic personal assistant programs. But since "oversized PDA" is less marketable than "self-aware computer program," he was gradually ousted by his fellow colleagues. In the end, the core programming he laid down was replaced with a new, similar program, & it was made to look like he had no involvement in the project whatsoever. Aamon left the project in-debt & by the time the creditors were finished, he had nothing but his lab clothes. Vowing to undo his persecuters with their own foolishness, he stole a PET & slipped deep into underground NetNavi activities. It's rumored he's behind at least a dozen overseas NetNavi share holders, but it's impossible to figure out which one, & his current whereabouts are unknown.
Other: How they can't spot the walking mad scientist archetype is beyond me.

Re: Megaman: Mind Games

Name: Kelphy Colsun
Age: 17
Appearance: Thin girl with blue eys and shoulder-lenght dark blue hair, with a braid behind her right ear. She wears a short blue vest over a white shirt, a blue, black and white checkered pleated skirt and white sneakers. She also wears a silver necklace with a small sapphire with a silver horse embedded. She has a PET in shades of blue.
NetNavi:
IceMan.EXE
Fighting Style: IceMan can create snow and ice in general, being able to defend himself with ice walls, attacking mostly with ice hammers, snow and hail gusts, freezing punches and things of the like. He can also create ice blades under his shoes that allow him to skate at high speed on any frozen surface.
Bio: Kelphy is a student in Seabreeze High and the town mayor's daughter. She's a very friendly, though shy girl who loves to read and hang out with her friends. She loves the sea and often spends her days on her father's small yacht. She's the best student in her class and loves NetBattling for fun over the internet. IceMan was her father's Navi before being hers. He has been with her since she was a little kid and they have become great friends. IceMan is a very cheerful Navi with a personality much like his operator's, except not as shy.

Name: Razz Daelph
Age: 17
Appearance: Thin guy with messy black hair and grey eyes. He wears a large black shirt with shoulder white flame patterns, baggy jeans, black sneakers and a black and white cap.
NetNavi:
ShadowMan.EXE
Fighting Style: ShadowMan is an extremely fast Navi that specializes in a flash step-ish fighting style. He can create fire to further enhance his quick cutting attacks, throw knives, and create clones that last a few seconds.
Bio: Just another anti-social dude from Seabreeze. He met ShadowMan after he got trapped in his PC when trying to escape an horde of mean viruses. They ended up teaming up and have been friends for years. ShadowMan's personality is a lot like Razz's, both being arrogant and anti-social though secretly kind-hearted.

Guess I'll join.

Name: Edge Marinson
Age: 18
Appearance: His PET is dark purple with black around the rim.
Spoiler:

NetNavi: Spider.exe (Since there is no real Spider.exe, I used the normal one)
Spoiler:

Fighting Style:
Fights by throwing playing cards that explode upon impact. He can either throw the cards singly, or, by taking the time to construct a poker hand such as a two pair or full house, can increase the power of the explosion. He also has the ability to turn invisible.
Bio:
Edge grew up living a normal, boring life in a home next to the port in Seabreeze. Due to this, he has a very lazy and easygoing personality and hates to move around too much. His father taught him how to gamble at a very young age, although he never really understood the concept until later on, and he had the worst of luck even with the various amounts of lucky charms and trinkets he brought with him all the time. He eventually got a PET and a NetNavi to go with it, who, coincidentally, was apparently a gambler named Spider. Unlike Edge, Spider actually knew how to gamble, what to do, and what not to do, and taught him those things, especially in games involving cards as his combat style revolved around it. They grew to know each other and eventually decided to act as vigilantes, working together to defeat viruses when the police and other officials couldn't.

Resubmitted with edits

Name: Alto Harmonia
Age: 16
Appearance:
Alto:
His PET is silver with dark blue trim.
NetNavi: Axl.EXE
Axl.EXE:
Fighting Style: Axl is a custom navi built from both Alto's mother's own notes and Alto's skills. As such he is a navi designed with a few unconventional skills and abilities. Axl possesses two unique skills no other navi has, All Use and Navi Style. All use allows Axl to use up to seven chips ignoring the chip's code. This functionally turns them into * chips when All Use is engaged. After using All Use it must be recharged a short time. The second ability, Navi Style, allows him to load a navi chip and transform into an exact copy of that navi for a short time. Additionally by slotting a navi chip and combining it with All Use he can fuse the navi's ability with a single other chip imbuing that chip with the navi's ability. Doing this resets All Use's charge as if he had used it. Axl always has float shoes and air shoes engaged unless navi style disengages them as part of the transformation. Axl is a deft and nimble navi who uses twin pistols to fire off buster shots, a rifle to fire off V or Air shots, and a shotgun to fire off shotgun or speader shots. Other chips such as cannon or cursor chips turn into similar weapons when used but beyond the aesthetic difference the effects are the same.

Bio: Alto is the son of a genius programmer who imparted a great deal of her knowledge unto Alto before she died. Alto has never met his father but lives with his deceased mother's family. Due to his programing skills he operates his own private server attached to his computer's homepage. He uses it as a testing ground for software programs and the like. Normally this server is closed off to anyone who doesn't have the "key" to get in. The server is essentially a network of linked computers. He used these and his skills to create Axl.exe, his own net navi. Axl is a young and exuberant navi who has a glitch that Alto can't seem to fix. That glitch being Axl can't seem to stop hitting on female net navis.
Other: idk lol

Name: Jack Skifter
Age: 17
Appearance: Brownish-blonde hair, pale whitish tannish skin, green eyes, usually wears a black hoodie with some crazy company logo(see Bio for details), grey cargo pants with a few more pockets than most, and standard black and white sneakers. He has a custom made PET with some crazy metallic silver chrome casing or something.
NetNavi:
CrashMan.EXE:
Fighting Style: Has high speed, agility, and has thick armor resistant to explosion. Uses Crash Bomber, a drill rocket that fires out of his arms, sticks to the enemy or anything else in the environment, and blows up after a set amount of time. Can also use drills still attached to his arms in close range combat.
EDIT: Can also combine his Crash Bombers to fly himself at a target. The resulting explosion damages CrashMan.
Bio: Originally from East City on the other damn side of whatever country this is, Jack lived a fair life with his family. He became mechanically inclined after years of working with his father, one of the head engineers working for that company that designs PETs. Eventually, Jack made his own PET with his father's help. CrashMan was a gift to Jack from some of the company staff for his help with their work. CrashMan has a snarky personality, so they didn't get along too well at first. However, after years of NetBattling and conversation, the two became close friends. Jack's parents sent Jack to Seabreeze to pursue a higher education. He currently lives in an apartment and is a fairly new student at Seabreeze High.
Other: I CAN'T DEFEAT AIRMAN!~
